US BR & 4K Releases for March & April 2024

If it is exclusive to Prime (which is what I've been hearing) probably not. At least not until the exclusive window closes.

    UHD w/o HDR Store Analysis

Not quite technically accurate. The HDR standard has a maximum mastering level of 10,000 nits. Content is typically mastered using monitors that are either 4000 nits (in the past the Dolby Pulsar, now the Sony BVM) or 1000 nits (Sony). 4000 nit titles are usually rare and typically from Warner...

Same as the previous, so no surprise there.

    UHD w/o HDR Store Analysis

I believe there is more to this. Studios are now charging different rates for titles based on the deliverable as opposed to package rates that were in place before. So some titles may not have the economics for paying more for a HDR deliverable if historically K hasn't seen sales that may...

    4K Ultra HD vs. HDR

Both will look fantastic. There are some titles that the UHD version is derived from a not as ideal trim pass but they are few and far between but the hdr of those may look better in certain scenes of the movie.

Kaleidescape Expands Into Cinema Business With Service to Bring Library Titles to Theaters

I believe this is the driving force for the major amount of UHD updates we've been seeing on titles that didn't have them before. Theaters can show 4K UHD titles whereas they cannot playback 4K HDR. K has been doing a lot of UHD updates to previously HDR only titles, this move gives a lot of...

    4K Ultra HD vs. HDR

It is a common misconception that a brighter projector is better for HDR. While having a lot of light output helps with resolve in the higher nit portions of the image, the point of HDR is in the name "HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE". So peak brightness is not everything because most high brightness...

US BR & 4K Releases for March & April 2024

Not sure, mine was like $5. I had done D2D with that one using the Miramax Blu-ray I believe a couple years ago.

US BR & 4K Releases for March & April 2024

Wow, never expected to see Trainspotting get a 4K upgrade but here we are (this is available from Criterion in 4K). I just recently bought the 4K Blu-ray during the Criterion sale. So much have been a non exclusive deal with Criterion (similar to Silence of the Lambs). I'll have to compare the...

Missing Alternative Cuts in 4K HDR

I don't see why they can't have other cuts. They have clearly done 4K extended/director's cuts for some of the Fast and Furious movies as well as the new Jurassic Park. They've done lots of them for HD titles as well. This is s service that is supposed to cater to film lovers and typically we...

The Animal Kingdom (No regular theatrical English Subtitles)

I was literally coming on here to post this same thing. Had a friend come over tonight to watch this and we saw the descriptive titles and immediately decided to watch something else. I have no issue with regular subtitles, but hate descriptive (I am not hearing impaired). @MikeKobb any way this...

Agreed, been hearing a lot of buzz on this so was excited to see it added today. Will be checking it out for sure.

    4K Ultra HD vs. HDR

The Sony 6000ES uses static tone mapping (though you can have different results with their different modes) so while some movies may look great, others may not. I would definitely consider using the UHD versions if you don't have an external processor, but I don't think using the HDR versions...

US BR & 4K Releases for March & April 2024

Because those are Disney+ titles, Disney has not been making them available to digital content providers as they are in competition with Disney+. Disc releases are not.
