Same movie how many devices to stream at the same time

Taken from the Knowledge Base: "Kaleidescape Strato systems are comprised of Terra and Strato movie servers, each movie server can distribute the following number of simultaneous playback streams: TERRA (FULL SIZE, 2RU) Up to 10 streams for 4K resolution (HDR or UHD formats) Up to 15...

    UHD w/o HDR Store Analysis

Actually, 1000nits is standard for HDR mastering. 4000nits is more of an exception.

    Just imagine…

I think we are talking about different things. Of course it makes sense for K to increase their user base within their target audience. No doubt. But you´re suggesting to increase the user base by moving into a lower end "mass market". That´s not K´s business and i don´t think it would be wise...

No, YOU want them to want to. ;)

    Just imagine…

Well, two options: 1) Reuse the existing player: no development effort required but how to justify that it only costs a tenth of the "real one"? 2) Development a simpler player: that would require a lot of development effort, logistics, support, etc. which wouldn´t allow for a $500,- player In...

You´re suggesting to sell basically a Strato C that is just limited to rental movies, but for a tenth of the regular price of a Strato?...

Kaleidescape Expands Into Cinema Business With Service to Bring Library Titles to Theaters

Sure they can also be fed via HDMI. My issue is more around the whole encryption thing. DCI is putting a lot of effort to creating a safe environment how the content is fed into the playback system. As mentioned before, the content is usually fed directly into the DCI-compliant projector via...

Dealer recommendations in the Detroit area

Just a remark from a cinema builder perspective: We would pass a request where the equipment is already set, but the client still wants design and planning services. This is wrong order. You first do the design (room design, acoustical / visual design, etc.) and planning and then you select the...

Kaleidescape Expands Into Cinema Business With Service to Bring Library Titles to Theaters

Ah, that´s interesting. Unfortunately not easy to get information about it for us. All i get is "it will not effect your residential and marine business". Perhaps @cinelife can get a bit more insight?

Kaleidescape Expands Into Cinema Business With Service to Bring Library Titles to Theaters

The problem is, the standard K-content is not licenced for public screening. It´s only a residential/private license. So there needs to be a completely different license framework in place for commercial cinema use.

    UHD w/o HDR Store Analysis

I agree. K is marketing their system as "the ultimate movie player", claiming best video and audio quality. That´s how they position it as a premium system and charging premium money for it. If you start reducing quality, but still charging premium, that doesn´t sound like a solid business plan...

Kaleidescape Expands Into Cinema Business With Service to Bring Library Titles to Theaters

I don´t think it will be implemented the way we know it from our consumer installs, connecting a Strato-player to the system. Content for commercial theaters is delivered via download or via harddisk. It´s all encrypted and a closed system. I would expect it to be a (separate) download service...

    Halo Touch vs Non-Touch

Different concept. That´s what i like about Crestron: i can still chose between Crestron Home (locked down GUI design) and Crestron Custom (fully customizable GUI design) depending on the requirements of the project/client. We just recently switched a cinema room from Crestron Home to Custom...

    4K Ultra HD vs. HDR

But in that case, without a videoprocessor doing tonemapping, you´re better off with the non-HDR-version of the movie. The VW5000ES is not good at displaying HDR-content without a videoprocessor.
