Plex User looking to switch to Kaleidescape Questions

Totally agree. But I’m not posting about AV/VR headsets to talk about the merits of owning one or convince myself to buy the overpriced AVP ‘prototype’ that is sold to early adopters. It is to reply to the post on whether Plex and Kaledeiscape can live in harmony. Yes. The majority of the...

Plex User looking to switch to Kaleidescape Questions

Currently the Apple Vision Pro cannot hold a candle to my home theater set up that I probably spent $30k-40k on. This is not including the $15k of Kaleidescape hardware. Nor does it include the home theater seats, blackout shades, etc. the $30-40k is just for the 4k projector, screen and...

Plex User looking to switch to Kaleidescape Questions

I want to add one more thing. I've gotten into AV/VR with the new Apple Vision Pro. No, I didn't buy an AVP and only demo it. I could afford it but I couldn't justify a $4000 purchase with my limited use case, and especially it being a first gen product. But because I love the tech so much...

Concerned about the longevity of the Server.

Since the unit is so expensive, what do you envision the yearly annual fee to be for extended warranty? $499 a year? Is that a price point people are comfortable in paying? I would rather there be a repair cost instead. If one drive was to fail, what would be the cost to send it for repair...

Plex User looking to switch to Kaleidescape Questions

Dear OP, It's ok to have it co-exist. The price for the Kaleidescape is either on par with the physical disc or cost more. Rarely it is cheaper. Hence the reason why I still buy physical media. I buy the 4K version and rip it into my server for my Zappiti player (now R-Video) as an ISO image...

    R_Volution (Zappiti successor)

Hmmm. Didn’t see it before when I first purchased it which was why I bought the physical media in the first place. Mainly because when I buy a movie I download the highest quality in my server. This case being the 4k HDR version and not the HD. There’s more special features on the...

    R_Volution (Zappiti successor)

I may be the small minority that don't like Kaleidescape's UI. But Kaleidescape's UI is what it is. What I am bummed about is the fewer and fewer special features they have. Oppenheimer has an entire Blu-ray disc devoted to Special Features and K's file has none. And worse, very few movies...

    New Drawing for Members

Hahaha. Jim said the drawing will be held on the 7th. If it was the 5th, I would have tried the Birthday card since my birthday is today

    Oppenheimer

If holding out on special features help reduce the cost for the movies, then I’ll opt to not have them. But can we at least have movie trailers in the UI as the bare minimum? It helps when I have a group of people over trying to decide what to watch. It doesn’t have to be in super high...

    Oppenheimer

Wait. Is this true? I was upset that studios have stopped including Blu-ray Discs with their 4k Discs so I’ve actually stopped buying the 4k if the Blu-ray was not included. Instead I only buy the Blu-ray just so that I can do the D2D. If that’s true, I’ll buy the 4k discs instead.

Just pulled the trigger. Spent $334 in a day to qualify! Jim, just PM you.

    R_Volution (Zappiti successor)

Agree with everyone that it is a personal choice. Which is why I continue to use K, Zappiti and Plex. They each have their strengths and I support all three. I use K when I am watching by myself in my home theater room. When I have guests, I have them navigate using Zappiti or Plex as the UI...

    R_Volution (Zappiti successor)

Not sure how much truth in that. How much money can he get from deposits? But I’m happy with the R_volution app and glad to pay my monthly fee. I rip my 4k to my Zappiti (now R) so quality is the same. K is available sooner but I tend to wait until the price drop before I buy so it usually...

    R_Volution (Zappiti successor)

I tried the new R-volution app for my Zappiti Neo. Unfortunately I have to pay either a monthly ($5.99) or annual fee ($50) now but it's better than forking out another $900 for a new player. My Zappiti Neo is just a year old. My thoughts? I love it! They made significant improvements on the...

🔵 TV Series- Consolidate to single title

I was thinking more in line with buying a Terra Server with empty drives and adding our own drives but still keeping it as a closed system. But to be honest, if K can just come up with a way for me to view the list of all my movies (downloaded and non downloaded) on the K player, I’m good with...
