Star Trek: TMP- The Director’s Edition request

It is due for Paramount + on April 5th. I hope we can get this version on the store soon after.

I know many ST fans do not like the first entry but I love it. Yes the story doesn’t feel ST and pace is slow but it is one of the very few epic sci-fi movies in this grande scale. It would look and sound so good in 4K HDR and Atmos.

I doubt it. I'm sure Paramount wants it to be exclusive to Paramount+ to boost subscribers. We're going to be seeing more and more movies locked into streaming services. Just look at CODA. The first Best Picture winner that I won't be able to own in my collection. Very sad but it's where things are headed unfortunately.

They also announced the director’s edition on 4K disc recently, maybe there is hope for us?

The K stores version is 4K HDR and looks amazing. Lacking Atmos, but upmixed 7.1 is very good. SJ
The store version is great for sure but it is the theatrical cut. This new version has several minutes of additional scenes, new cgi effects replacing some of the dated shots and all other optical effects enhanced.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - The Director’s Edition
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

These titles are available to pre-order on 4K UHD Blu-ray disc now and they will be released on September 6th I really like TNG episodes.

It is a toss up for me between TOS vs TNG. When it comes to the movies, I definitely prefer the first 6 over the latter 4. The last 3 movies are fine action movies for me but not truly Star Trek. I am happy we are finally getting all 6 of the original crewed movies on 4K HDR.

Exclusive windows, maybe. But everyone thought the 4k Atmos Star Wars would all be Disney+ exclusives with the first announcement but they made it to disc and K. AppleTV+ may end up as the only holdout, but they’ve built a business model on killing off physical media, and adding K to their distribution doesn’t offer much value for Apple.

FWIW ATV+ is also the best quality streaming service as well as the lowest price point.

I watched the opening scenes on HBOMAX. Looks amazing. Hope this lands on the store soon….

Hey KScape! You just upgraded all the Star Trek films featuring the TNG cast, where's The Motion Picture Director's Edition? I have friends who worked on this - a true labor of love. The Director's Edition is a major improvement over the Theatrical Version - let's see it!

WAY more enjoyable version of the movie. It was a great modern improvement on a lackluster blemish in the franchise. This Director's edition is a Kscape must!!! (I hope)

I'll keep bugging my rep (I'm a KScape dealer). I'm not gonna let this go! :) One of my favorite movies of all time, and like I noted, some friends of mine worked on it. Thanks for noting our requests!

Star Trek - the Motion Picture is a major part of filmmaking history - it's the first time a television show had been made into a major motion picture, and proved that adapting TV shows for the big screen could be a legit business model. All the Star Trek shows and movies that came after it were directly a result of this film's success (yes, this film made good money at the box office). What was released in 1979 (and what's available on Kaleidescape) is a *rough cut* - the film was rushed to theaters and never finished. The Director's Edition we're all clamoring represents Robert Wise finally getting a chance to finish his film. It was literally his dying wish that the DE replace the theatrical version as the definitive version of "Star Trek the Motion Picture."

It's bad enough not to have this, even worse to not understand why we don't have it. I know for a fact the the TMP - DE sold quite well on disc, so why is it not on Kaleidescape?

Come on you guys, we're one of your top dealers - can't we pull a few strings? Let's see this film in all its 4K HDR glory on Kaleidescape!
