Options for Vented Rack Mount Drawers?

Hi All,

I'm looking to tidy up my home office a bit and would like to place a laptop and its docking station into the rack I have in the closet. Ideally I would like a drawer with vents so that it doesn't overheat when powered up in the rack and I can easily take the laptop out when needed. I like the look of the Middle Atlantic black anodized aluminum drawer faces, but I'm not seeing any options for a vented drawer. I did find that Penn Elcom has a vented laptop drawer (model EX-6302), but not crazy about the front panel.

Anyone know of any nicer looking alternatives to the Penn Elcom?

Thanks,
Ken

Middle Atlantic has a drawer vented on the bottom and open in the back, so guessing you want vents on top too? Also looking for the higher security of a locked access, as opposed to just a sliding shelf?

I'll do some more searching to try finding that Middle Atlantic drawer. I don't need a lock, but would like a front face. The sliding shelves I've seen don't have a front face.

The MA drawer I was referring to is #D2-UMS-28.

There also seemed to be some possible options from Quest and Kendall Howard at FireFold (never used those brands or this site before, but they seemed to have a few options when I was hunting earlier in the week.) Worse comes to worse you could probably have a rack face attached to any of the other drawer/shelf options, if there was a particular combination you really liked.

Thank you for the model number and link. In looking at that Middle Atlantic drawer, it appears to have a painted steel face instead of brushed anodized and unfortunately it requires more mounting depth than I have available in my office rack. In searching/browsing various offerings I just don't see many pre made options that fit what I'm looking for. Like you've suggested I'm thinking I will have to fabricate something. Along those lines I'm leaning toward cutting the top/bottom out of an enclosed drawer and attach vented panels into the cutouts. I think that option would allow hiding cosmetic issues inside the rack and out of site.
