Lord of the Rings

This is so strange I own all versions of Hobbit in HD. For " An Unexpected Journey" Standard is 36.99, for the Extended is 15.99 "The Desolation of Smaug" Standard is 36.99, for the Extended is 15.99 but for "The Battle of the Five Armies" Standard is 15.99 , for the Extended is 36.99.

All of the LOTR were 15.99

Does anyone else have this issue?

I was seeing this somewhat yesterday. We were discussing it here.

I'm seeing now that all the extended editions give me upgrades at $15.99, but all the normal editions are $36.99.

I believe the pricing depends on which version you already own... at least that is the case for me.

I own all three of Hobbit movies in the standard version, but only two in the extended edition. All owned titles are displaying a $15.99 HDR upgrade while the one title I do not own (The Battle of Five Armies) has a non-upgrade price of $36.99.

I suspect the ownership wedges may be confusing things a bit

Possibly, I had seemingly owned all versions in HD though as well.

I hit for the cycle and just bought all 6 films earlier in the extended edition since it was presenting $15.99 for them today. That's works for me anyhow I think. I doubt I'd ever rewatch the theatrical and the extended. I'd consider the extended editions the premium ones, so that's all I really want.

Well I think we have identified the issue as the ones at 36.99 do not show up in my "Digital Offers"

I see both Standard 4K and Extended showing at 4.42 - does that mean I should buy each one of them OR if I buy say Standard I also get Extended?
Just checking.

For me I did not get both buying normal or extended as I tried normal for LOTR and extended for the Hobbitt.

I was just charged for my extended edition HDR pre-orders. The Fellowship of the Ring is downloading now.

@todo Confirming - The Theatrical and Extended Editions are separate purchases.

@everyone else

All of the extended editions have completed QA and should download this weekend.

Best,

Luke

This is correct. Exactly the same for me. I do not own the extended edition of "The Battle of the Five Armies", neither in SD or HD. It nonetheless has the ownership wedge only because I own the theatrical cut. Now that I have upgraded the Theatrical Cut to 4K the Extended Cut shows as owned in 4K as well which is not the case. Those of us seeing a $36.99 "upgrade" price it is simply because the movie is not owned in any resolution despite having the ownership wedge.

Same for other movies with different editions, i.e Fast & Furious 6. Something maybe for @MikeKobb to look at as it can be confusing.

Not an issue when browsing from the K app. No ownership shown.

I only own the Blu-ray Theatrical Editions, but I get a check mark by both Theatrical and Extended, as well. But I was given the options to upgrade my Theatrical Versions to Extended Versions.

When I put that disc in my Alto, I can upgrade my Theatrical Edition to the HD Extended Edition for $1.94 or to 4K HDR Extended Edition for $4.42.

It looks like to me the price varies based on a “Digital Upgrade” offer and a “Disc to Digital” offer.

For example, I have the first Hobbit movie which I had previous did a “Disc to Digital” offer on. After I did that upgrade, I removed the “cataloged” physical disc version from my system. So for that movie it shows I can do a “Digital Upgrade” to the Theatrical Version only for $15.99, while the Extended Edition was still the full $36.99.

For the second Hobbit movie, it was showing the exact same “Digital Upgrade” offers as the first movie. But this time I added the physical disc back into the Alto, and “cataloged” the movie again. With the “physical disc” cataloged I now get the “Disc to Digitals” offers to buy either the Theatrical or Extended version for $4.42.

So it looks like to me, to get the $4 deal, you need to have the physical disc cataloged in the system. That way you get the “Disc to Digital Offers” which is way cheaper than the “Digital Upgrade Offers”. And the “Disc to Digital” offer applied to both versions of the movie, even when you only have one version on disc.

This is exactly my experience. Digging out my packed discs now as my OCD always had me remove the BluRay disc from my system once I had purchased the HD version.

Yeah, I removed them also and would have to go digging in storage for the discs. Decided to just pay and now enjoy....
