One of the good thing is the extended version will come with 2 discs with K straight copy no need to stop and replace

I’m new to owning K, is there any consistency to releases in general, and when they show up in the K store? I’d imagine it’s different with each studio, I’m just curious what to expect in general, and especially with LOTR as it’s among my favorites.

Here is a Link to the tread that tracks releases. It has the history of when titles were actually added to the Store.

With respect to LOTR, this will be on my next list for November & December. I expect them to be released on 1 December 2020.

Yep! Totally agree, 1 extended movie; 2 tops. It’s a similar scenario with box sets; so many would make a very good film but not a 6+ episode season. Cash grab/viewer eyes quantity over quality

That said, some of the extras are mint. The piece showing Cumberbatch filming Smaug is truly awesome in all manner of levels

I hope they fix the jarring transition in the very first extended edition of Fellowship of the ring. At the point where you would have switched disks, it stutters a bit on the blurry quality version.

Resurrecting this thread. I am a new Kscape owner (in fact, it hasn't been installed yet), and I already own the 4K Blu-ray version of LOTR. Is there a consensus about whether the Kscape version is better than the disc?

Projector or TV? The Dolby vision on disc is pretty great on a TV. Probably not going to notice much difference on your projector between the 4k BluRay and K, but I haven’s seen anyone do a direct comparison.

Projector. Maybe I'll see if I can get the K version cheap via disc-to-digital once I get it installed. Thanks!

On disc you get both theatrical and extended editions. On Kstore, you need to purchase them separately.

Understood. I was mostly curious to see if anyone had done A/B comparisons between them. At $10 I agree it makes sense to buy both versions, but it's more about the time commitment. If I'm going to sit down and watch a 12-hour trilogy, I'd prefer to watch the superior version.
