Hello All

I am looking to replace Marantz 8805 with this unit. Does anyone have any feedback on this newly released unit in here.

Cheers

Raj

Hey Raj, this is on my radar too, I've asked my AV dealer for more details - if I get anything will let you know.

I sold my 8805 as my media room was supposed to be down for construction work. Unfortunately with the Corona Virus we have to push out construction work as we are home and cannot deal with constant noise. Now I dont have the media room and eagerly looking at this processor being stable. I was told in a couple of weeks most issue should be ironed out.

@House72, I might have a processor you can use temporarily, I'll check and let you know (not sure if it is still in storage).

@cinelife Jim that is extremely nice of you. I actually have a Denon Receiver that can be repurposed. I was lazy not put that in here. I may end up doing it over the weekend. Thanks again for the thought.

Okay, no problem, glad you have something, especially during these stay-at-home days!!

(I've got my 3 kids out of school, probably for the remainder of the school year, and they use our systems all the time, and without audio it doesn't work! We have to home school for now, and it's tough. On the first day of school I had to suspend 2 for not showing up to class, and expelled the other for rolling his eyes at me! I just developed a higher appreciation for elementary school teachers!!) 🙂

My wife and I were asked to teach the grandkids every Tuesday and Thursday for an hour via Skype. Reminds me of the old days when I taught class in grad school (without the online aspect). It‘s been a good way to keep up with them!

In my case, that's what happens when you "fraternize" with the students! (my twins are 9, my little guy is 5)
What makes it tougher is that I'm probably teaching kids that are smarter than me. My twins are in 3rd grade but doing 6th Grade work, and there isn't much my 5 yo couldn't tell you about the human body. For some reason he's always been fascinated with how the body works. When my other two are playing games online, he's watching med school video lectures (seriously), he also has a few dozen human body books and those are his favorites. He shocked my Gastro Doc when he was with me on a visit by naming every part of the digestive system and telling him what each "part" did in the process of digestion! Whenever we get together with my neighbor's family he spends time discussing the neuro system with the Dad, he's a neurosurgeon. All of that said, he's still a typical 5yo when it comes to teaching him things he has no interest in learning!

I told my wife, he's either going to be a Doctor or a serial killer.......so I'm watching him closely! :giggle:

.....and the teacher fired for drinking on the job!!

I certainly wanted to before the end of the day! (We absolutely are not paying elementary school teachers enough!!)

Hello All

I decided to move on and will be ordering Lyngdorf MP-60. It is a lot more than JBL but seems to have excellent review, stable and Room Perfect also gets high praise

Thanks. Yes, I was going to say, I spoke with my guy yesterday and he said to avoid those JBLs as they aren't anything like the "true" Synthesis models, as they are "just' rebadged Arcam's with a bunch of software bugs to boot.

I had the MP-60 in for evaluation not long ago, very nice nice piece, stable, easy setup, sounds very good.

You won't be disappointed, it's a very nice component, and their gear is always well-built. I only decided against bringing it in because of our Trinnov and Datasat sales. I currently have Trinnov Alt 32 in my main theater, but I would be equally satisfied with the MP-60 if I wasn't a "speaker tweeker." :)

I got word that this should be at my house by Monday. I will at least be back watching movies as our shut down is extended till May 3rd. I watched contagion the other night in our living room and its scary how close it is to reality. I hope we get a working vaccine that quick.

Cheers
