How do I tell if the HD version has atmos?

See the attached from the K Store. I only have an Alto and DV700 (and external Oppo 4K player). I will buy the HD version IF and ONLY IF it has Atmos. Otherwise I will buy from Amazon. I prefer to buy from K.

While it states Atmos, how do I tell if it is for only the 4K version or both?

They need a table like Vudu has showing the different versions and associated audio tracks. However this will also show movies that have UHD/HDR picture with DTS 5.1 and HD versions with Dolby Atmos.... SJ

According to this list from Kaleidescape,

https://store.kaleidescape.com/dolby_atmos/titles

"Passengers" HD version does NOT have Atmos.

So it appears that the answer to my question is: This does not show the audio of the HD version. I must go the list of Dolby Atmos movies to determine if a particular version has Atmos.

Got it!

That's right. We realize this is absolutely not ideal. The separate list is an interim solution until we can address it more cleanly in the main movie details.

Not all movies in list have Dolby Atmos audio

These are 3 movies I have downloaded from the Dolby Atmos list that only have 5.1 audio track:

Sully
San Andreas
The Legend of Tarzan

"Live buy Night" is another included in the Dolby Atmos list however in the store listed as 5.1

Also at least these 2 new movies have a 7.1 audio track on the Blu-ray and are only 5.1 in the store:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Rogue One

I will purchase the Blu-ray's HD or 4K from Amazon if the Store does not have the same audio track as the Blu-ray. Some of the movies eventually get the Dolby Atmos track added later, however I have already purchased the Blu-ray. It is unfortunate that the Store is unable to always get the same audio track as the Blu-ray when the movies first appear in the store. I would prefer to purchase from the Store however having a Dolby Atmos theatre I do not want to play a movie that will include a Dolby Atmos or 7.1 audio track on the Blu-ray yet only have a 5.1 audio track from the store.

if licensing is the issue I hope that can be worked out; I would prefer to buy from the store and not keep purchasing physical disks to get the best audio provided.

First point: I downloaded San Andreas and my copy most certainly does have Atmos. My processor screen shows what channels are active and during those scenes it works. It also says it is Atmos on the processor screen.

Second point: But I am in agreement with the highlighted section !!

San Andreas audio

I did not download this movie since I had already purchased the blu-ray disk with Dolby Atmos. I was only going by what what was listed in the Store:

English (DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1)

That is the issue. The only current way to know if a film is in Atmos is to look on the Atmos list. The Store description is incomplete/incorrect. Very strange to me and K is aware of this and, I assume, is working on a timely solution.

OOPS I said I had downloaded San Adreas in my first post but I had not. I purcahsed the HD Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos and I could download it but I have not.

I purchased "The Legend of Tarzan" 4K Blu-ray to get the Dolby Atmos track and I downloaded the HDR version from the store and I checked last night and it was only playing in 5.1. Sully, I purchased the 4K blu-ray to get the Atmos track and I have not downloaded from the store. The store shows 5.1 for both yet these movies are included in their Dolby Atmos list?

All three of these movies have Dolby Atmos on the HD versions. I have them downloaded and verified.

The limitation of the store currently is that it shows the soundtrack that matches the highest quality video version. To know whether a lower quality version (HD version of a title that has a 4k version) you need to check the Atmos list.

John

ETA: On Warner Bros. titles, K was only getting 5.1 sound on the 4K version. There are Dolby Atmos versions now being added to the store so check the list periodically to see if any have been updated. The HD version of "Fantastic Beasts" has Dolby Atmos but not the 4K version yet.

Got it, great to know the audio shown matches the highest quality video. I have the 4K version of Fantastic Beasts arriving today because I wanted the Dolby Atmos version. The Atmos track will probably be added to the 4K version later like Mad Max and Pacific Rim which I just upgraded to when I saw they had the Atmos audio track.
It is great that some of the big movies are available 2 weeks earlier than the blu-ray disks but if they do not have the Atmos or 7.1 audio track I will have to wait to purchase from the store or order from Amazon. For example I purchased "Passengers" 4K with Dolby when it was first available from the store.

Please refer to this link, which was posted earlier in this thread:

Until we're able to fix the limitation in the main movie details (in which we only show the audio corresponding to the highest-video-quality version of the movie), that list is the authoritative reference to see which version(s) of a movie currently have Atmos soundtracks. It's automatically generated, so as soon as there's any change on the Movie Store, the list should reflect it.

Good to know that this list is automatically generated. Thanks for sharing that and look forward to the eventual fix as well as getting more and more UHD/HDR versions with Dolby Atmos. Do you have a list also for DTS:X? Maybe the same issue can't happen with that, but thought I would ask (realize there are a lot less movies).... SJ

Since as I understand it Atmos is sometimes added after the movie is first posted to the store, is there any way to see if the version I have on my system does not have Atmos, but that an Atmos version is now available in the store?

I'm afraid it's a manual process right now -- you have to check the list and compare with what's on your system. We've got some ideas for improving this a whole lot, but nothing we're prepared to announce at this time.

If your taking input :), if you know that at a future date the audio will be updated, then maybe we could check something on the movie to automatically delete and update from the store when it becomes available. And send us an email or some message to let us know. "Your Movie: X has been updated with Dolby Atmos audio soundtrack...." SJ

Thanks, Mike. But oddly I couldn't even figure out how to do this manually. When I go to the web interface for my Encore system and click to view Movie Details, it doesn't say what audio formats I have.
