No Cover Art

Hi Guys,

I have just been going through the library on the system I have to manage.

I have noticed there is a few movies without art work.
So off I go in search of some hi res covers download them.

Go edit the movie informatin select the art work I have downloaded but it didnt appear.
Checked the help menu to find for Hi-Res I should use 756X1080
Modified my file to this size tried again still didnt work.

Is there a trick to getting cover art to upload or is there an issue somewhere that I am over looking?

I also tried a low res cover that didnt work then adjusted its size to 332x475 and that didnt work either :(

Movie is Casino Royale but I have about 15 others to sort out as well :(

Can anyone shed any light on this ?

**EDIT I have tried with FF16.0.1 and IE9 I can try with Safari later when I have finished work....

Hi Thanks for your reply.
I was speaking to a friend on another yacht with a similar system.
He recommended the old faithful power cycle.
I tried this about an hour ago.
When the system came up the art work is now working...
Just hope it's not going to be he same for the rest I them!!!

The movie guide db is so extensive (and growing larger all the time) that if you encounter a title with missing cover art chances are the Kaleidescape system hasn't been phoning home as it should and grabbing updates from the movie guide db. Sure bet a title like Casino Royale has coverart and video bookmarks, and typically new titles appear in the movie guide db within days of release (although having said that I've recently imported Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 and it was not recognized my the movie guide). It's coverart will appear in a few days automatically because I entered it's UPC in the Import UI, but I'll probably need to send the disc to Kaleidescape for video bookmarking.

Go to the installer UI, Diagnostics tab, Kaleidescape Services and it will show the last movie guide upload....

Thats what I thought about Casino Royale. How do I check its doing its ET impression properly?

I got cover art for new James Bond BD films this weekend. Same for Prometheus, E.T. and The Game.

Thanks Brodricj,

All done today so I guess its calling home just fine.
There is 2 servers I have noticed. one is a 1u with 4x2TB drives the other is a 3u with 10 2TB drives.

it looks like the 1u unit is full to the max. Is there a way to tell which movies are stored on this server rather than just what movies we have total?

Yes. Go to the Installer UI, ungroup the servers, then they will behave as separate entities...then you go to the User UI and you can check exactly what content you have on each server.

Alternatively, if you have physical access to the servers, just turn off the one server and then the browser interface will just show the movies that are one the remaining server. Either method works just fine. I prefer the power off option just because it leaves less room for error. I can't delete a movie from a server that is powered off.

Very clever. Copied those posts over to the "Tips & Discoveries" thread as well.

Anybody noticed that the cover art of some cd's seem to disappear especially when personal cover art is added due to nothing being found in the k-scape linked data base

When you say, personal cover art is added, you mean because the cd title is not recognized by the music guide db and you add your own coverart? If any CD's aren't recognized by the music guide db you can send them to Kaleidescape to have them added. But to get back to the question, for all the CD coverarts I have uploaded I have not seen any of them disappear at any stage afterwards.

I have sent over 1000 disks / titles to Kaleidescape and the process works great (and all users benefit) but occasionally even one of these covers disappears but more generally it is for disks not yet sent where I have added a 'temporary' cover.

I have had one new CD where everything is recognized except no cover art. I added my own cover art. Then over the next few days the cover art disappears as if Kscape is overwriting it.

I have also had one CD where I intentionally changed the cover art and it gets changed back to the original periodically.

John

Thanks guys lots of helpful info there.

Have another question regarding drive space but will look through other posts first see if its been asked already.

...have a look through the Kaleidescape on-line KB as well, that is an excellent source of information as well.
