Can anyone give me a suggestion inhow to do this? My inlaws kmusicno longer opens it's drawer when the open button is pushed. It is out of warranty, so instead of paying the $500 to fix it through their installer, I thought I could just pop in a new drive. Any thoughts or suggestions on this? Anyone know the exact dvdrom to use? Thank you.

Since it is out of warranty, you could just open it up, remove the drive and look at it to determine exactly which drive they are using...

yeah that's what I did. I was concerned that K would ahve put some special bios on the drive itself. As it was, I found the exact Sony OEM match, popped it in, plugged it in, worked like new!

Yeah man- it worked- just make sure you have a securitytorx wrench so that you can crack it open. But out of warranty, drive just failed. Works great now
