High Noon on 4K disc from Kino Lorber (as compared to just HD on K) and Once Upon a Time in the West in 4K as a 86.8GB file (as compared to the 53.4GB file on the 66GB 4K disc).

My 4K Gap Analysis: Disc has 5x the Exclusives of K

Sorry for the delay in replying, it's been a busy couple of days. Thank you for taking the time to review my list and give some insights into what I'm experiencing. And yes, I do appear to be fan of the films that boutique labels are picking up. I'm not sure there's a consistent defining...

UI Improvements in the Movie Store

@cinelife If we have to redo our covers, is it worth adding a covers upload/download section to the Resources area of this forum?

UI Improvements in the Movie Store

@andy I was also worried I'd have to redo the hundreds of custom covers I just made with HDR/UHD/HD badges – and change them to 4K/HD badges. @MikeKobb is that change coming to covers as well?

    Star Wars 5/4 sale history

For the original trilogy they look great for their time, I have scenes from them in a couple of my K scripts. The versions you're seeing on K or anywhere are the 1997 Special Editions, which were heavily reprocessed and had mediocre slapstick CGI scenes added. You're actually better off with the...

    Star Wars 5/4 sale history

To preserve both context and story quality, I’d suggest you watch them in release order, starting with the original trilogy: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. Then the prequel trilogy, and if your eyes aren’t bleeding yet, the sequel trilogy!

    Star Wars 5/4 sale history

Hah! I’ve bought the Star Wars films at least ten times now. I don’t think you’re getting a better deal on them on K than $80. I already bought the saga but picked up the two stories movies today. I’m fine with it. Especially since with the K versions you can define scenes and make scripts...

In fact just a few hours! The saga is now $79.99. Stories are $14.99.

My 4K Gap Analysis: Disc has 5x the Exclusives of K

Substance, I'm definitely keeping the Oppo plugged in! I'm not sure I can watch HD when I own a 4K disc a few feet away. But to your point, I am watching more HD for the convenience of it, I watched a bit of Forbidden Planet last night. LoveCinema, I don't think I tracked the studios when I...

My 4K Gap Analysis: Disc has 5x the Exclusives of K

Thank you, glad to know I’m not alone! What is that movies@ email address? Does K actually follow through on submitted titles? If so, I’ll submit my list. I have another section of my movies tracker which is all the movies in just HD or SD, between disc and K, that I’d like upgraded to 4K. I’ll...

My 4K Gap Analysis: Disc has 5x the Exclusives of K

I recently got a Kaleidescape. I was excited about it during, before, and after. I'm still happy with it. It's my favorite playback system for movies. It now feels very 20th Century to walk over to my wall, pull out an disc, open the player, set the disc in the tray, and tap the tray to close...

UI Improvements in the Movie Store

As a new K owner, the new badging and layout makes a lot more sense to me since it uses standard terms like 4K. I really didn’t know what to make of HDR and UHD, was one 4K? Both? Isn’t HDR its own thing and not resolution? To me this is a huge improvement getting rid of that confusing badging...

Anyone using Plex to Supplement Kaleidescape?

Hey folks, one of the reasons I prefer Kaleidescape is the convenience, in both arranging my collection on server and playing back that collection from server. However, there are at least 20 4K and 20 HD discs I have that aren’t in Kaleidescape. I’m debating whether to put in the time to at...

What do you do with your discs?

Yes, I remember seeing that post on AVS. I'm somewhat attached to my core movies, but also enjoy rearranging things. I'm leaning toward roughly matching my core movies on K with what I physically display in the built-in on the wall. And put the rest in crates in the storage area on the same...

    Cinema 77 Transitions

Hah! Glad I'm making money for Kaleidescape! As for Alien, I did in fact redeem that from Disc 2 Digital. Sorry if that's messing up the scene alignment. To be fair, it's the least evocative scene in the script, I'm sure you can drop it and still have a great sequence.

What do you do with your discs?

Well some are boxed up, some are now stacked up on my arcade table. I’m honestly attracted to the box them all up option, Raiders style.
